Welcome to the IGCS Tumor Board Case for November 2007, organized by Jaime Prat.    Below you will find a case of an ovarian tumor (in four parts), based on an original case submitted by Dr. Isidre Boguna, Hospital Sant Pau, Barcelona, Spain.

There are four questions to poll your management opinions.  All Members are encouraged to vote, but only one vote per question is permitted for each Member.

Once you have completed all four votes, you will have an opportunity to view current statistics and expert commentaries.

 
     
 


Part 1:  Initial Presentation

A 26-year old woman complained of abdominal pain for two weeks. She was without any significant past medical history.

Click to see full-size image On ultrasound examination (Figure 1), there was abundant ascites and an ill-defined retrouterine pelvic mass. The uterus was normal but the ovaries were not visualized.
Click to view full resolution image CAT scan (Figure 2) revealed that the pelvis was almost entirely occupied by a large exophytic non-encapsulated and septated mass with focal calcification.
