Events and Photographs


On Sunday 20-April, there was a full-day Residents Symposium on Gynecologic Oncology.  There were about 60 attendees from El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras and Panamá.
Lectures included:
1. Radical Hysterectomy surgical technique
2. Radical Trachelectomy surgical technique
3. Nerve sparing Radical Hysterectomy surgical technique
4. Follow up in cervical cancer
5. Role of Laparoscopy in Gyn Oncology
6. Primary surgery vs. Interval cytoreduction in ovarian cancer
7. Non epithelial ovarian tumors
8. Clinical cases discussion

The audience was very enthusiastic to learn from two “Spanish speaking” doctors who live in the “developing world” discussing items from the “developed world”, performed in Latin America.  It was a wonderful experience for them and the speakers.


From Tuesday 22-April through Friday 25-April, there were multiple lectures delivered during the FECASOG meeting, which is the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology Central American Societies. They were 1500 attendees from throughout the region.
Lectures included:
1. Screening in Gyn Oncology
2. Laparoscopic management of adnexal masses
3. Diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of cervical cancer
4. Diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of endometrial cancer
5. Diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of ovarian cancer

It was the first time many people heard about IGCS.
Everybody was so enthusiastic that the speakers were already invited to represent IGCS in Mexico during May and in Guatemala during August.

On 21-April, we performed a radical hysterectomy to a 33 year-old patient with a stage Ib1 cervical cancer.
Adriana was interviewed by the local television station before the surgery and Dr. Gorosito was interviewed by the papers after it.
