An IGCS-sponsored Satellite Symposium was held on 14-July-2008 during the Buenos Aires Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology Annual Meeting in Buenos Aires with with over 400 attendees.

IGCS was represented by Dr Adriana Bermudez (Vice President, IGCS) who chaired the Symposium, which was coordinated by Dr Fernando Gorosito from Argentina. There were two invited speakers. Dr. Beth Karlan, from USA (President, SGO and current Editor-in chief of Gynecologic Oncology) and Prof. Jaime Prat, from Spain (President of the International Society of Gynecologic Pathologists and Council Member, IGCS).


 

 
 


 Events and Photographs

The SOGIBA congress was held July 13 to 15th. It had over 6000 attendees with eight simultaneous sessions every day.


During the IGCS Symposium, Dr. Karlan presented two lectures entitled: “Must we submit all the endometrial cancer patients to surgical staging?” and “Role of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in ovarian cancer”. A third lecture was given during the general meeting: “Fetility sparing surgery in cervical cancer: why, when, how?”
Prof. Prat also presented two lectures during the IGCS Symposium: “Uterine sarcomas” and “Molecular biology and carcinogenesis in endometrial cancer”. A third lecture was given during the general meeting: “Serous borderline ovarian tumors”.


During the Symposium, we had a discussion panel with well recognized Gynecologic Oncologists from Argentina.


Finally, we had two oral presentations about: “Sentinel Node in cervical cancer” and “Radical Abdominal Trachelectomy”


We hope this was just the beginning ….
