New Delhi, India, was selected as the site of the first IGCS Regional Meeting on Gynecologic Cancers.  Nearly 400 participants from over 32 countries registered for the meeting, including over 200 participants from India.

The program began with a full-day live surgical session transmitted from 3 operating suites at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), organized by Neerja Bhatla, with open laparotomy, laparoscopy, and robotic surgery, involving a team of regional and international surgical specialists, including Walter Gottlieb (Canada), Lena van Doorn (Netherlands), and Adeola Olaitan (UK).

The opening session included introductory remarks from Vishwa Mohan Katoch, Director General and Secretary, Department of Health Research, Indian Council of Medical Research, followed by keynote lectures from Amit Oza (Canada), Keiichi Fujiwara (Japan), and Mansoor Mirza (Denmark).

The Scientific Program Committee was chaired by Michael Bookman (USA) and Peter Heintz (Netherlands), and reviewed over 200 submitted abstracts.   Scientific sessions included Ovarian Cancer, Nursing, Management of Surgical Complications, Management of Gestational Trophoblastic Disease, and Cervical Cancer, as well as Satellite Symposia on HPV screening and targeting angiogenesis in ovarian cancer.

This multidisciplinary educational event was organized in collaboration with the Association of Gynecologic Oncologists of India and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, two of the premier organizations within India that share a focus on women's cancers.

IGCS helped sponsor international participation from Jonathan Berek (USA), Michael Bookman (USA), Lena van Dorn (Netherlands), Shingo Fujii (Japan), Keiichi Fujiwara (Japan), Walter Gottlieb (Canada), Peter Heintz (Netherlands), Jonathan Ledermann (UK), Mansoor Mirza (Denmark), Andreas Obermair (Australia), Adeola Olaitan (UK), Amit Oza (Canada), Karl Podratz (USA), and Katy Weare (Australia).  Following the Regional Meeting, IGCS also held a Council Meeting in New Delhi.
