The IGCS Traveling Scholars Program is intended to enable physicians from developing countries to obtain post-graduate training at a qualified Gynecologic Oncology center.

General Program Information

The Program is limited to IGCS Members under 40 years of age directly involved in the care of gynecologic cancer patients and should be hosted by IGCS Members.  Past award recipients are not eligible to apply for additional awards.

Each year, IGCS intends to support up to 20 awards of $5,000 - $10,000 (USD) each.  Appointments should last from two to six months, and should be planned to provide adequate training in the requested topic of clinical practice and/or research. Traveling Scholar grants will not be awarded to cover transportation, lodging, or registration for IGCS biennial meetings.  IGCS Council has expressed an interest proposals directed toward:

  • Initiation of collaborative research projects
  • Teaching of surgical and radiation therapy techniques
  • Implementation of clinical trials infrastructure
  • Establishing educational programs at the award recipient’s home country
  • Application of medical oncology protocols and practice
  • Learning and implementing imaging technology

Application Procedure

Candidates should provide all relevant and updated information as requested in the application.  Copies of the application are available in the following formats:

Applications for the current cycle should be submitted by 31-OCT-2012, including:

  • Concise updated curriculum vitae
  • Completed Application Form with description of the proposed program
  • Description of host institution and primary mentor
  • Letters of support from applicant’s own institution and hosting institution

IGCS will appoint a committee to evaluate and make recommendations for awards to IGCS Council. At the completion of the program, each Scholar must submit a brief written report to IGCS Council.  In addition, any publications or presentations made as a result of the IGCS Traveling Scholars Program should acknowledge the contribution of IGCS.
